HOW TO SCORE A TICKET TO GLASTONBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL

If you’re hoping to buy a Glastonbury ticket when they go on sale on Thursday, 6th October (coach + ticket) and Sunday, 9th October (standard tickets), here’s what you need to know!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET A TICKET?

First things first, you need to register! Registration will close at 12 noon on Monday 3rd October. Everyone aged 13 needs their own registration. If you’ve been to the Festival before, you can check your registration online but in most cases, you would have already been sent an email confirming your registration details.

WHEN DO TICKETS GO ON SALE?

PUT IT IN YOUR DIARY – 6PM on Thursday 6th October (coach + ticket packages) or 9am on Sunday 9th October (tickets only). You’ll need to go to www.glastonbury.seetickets.com and join the millions of people around the world in what will be the most intense 5 minutes of your life!

HOW MUCH ARE TICKETS?

Tickets cost £238 + £5 booking fee per person (just under $500AU), with deposits of £50 per person payable on October 9th (children aged 12 and under are admitted free of charge and do not need a ticket). If you are booking a coach package (on October 6th) you will need to pay the £50 ticket deposit plus the full price of your coach booking.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TOP TIPS FOR GETTING A TICKET?

** Seriously consider getting a coach and ticket package (this is how I scored tickets to this year’s festival). Yes, there are less of these available (only 15,000), but you’ll find most people are keen to go out for standard tickets so they can make their own way there and arrive whenever they want.

Coach and ticket packages work differently. You have to pick what day and what time you wish to enter the festival via coach when you reserve your tickets – so be sure of what you want before tickets go on sale.

With respect to coach and ticket packages, most people are going to try and enter on the Wednesday so they can get a good camp spot etc. etc.

As I was traveling from Australia to attend the festival, this didn’t bother me as I was planning to get accommodation at Worthy View anyway. So when tickets go on sale, select THURSDAY as your entry day. It’s most people’s last option so you’re giving yourself a better chance.

Just secure your ticket and coach, worry about whether you’re going to camp or stay at Worthy View later!

** To save time, I selected a single trip on the coach – meaning the coach only took me to the festival, I had to find my own way back to London. So I picked a time in the morning, around 9:00AM, as my coach departure time, made the payment and it was done!

I ended up getting a train back to London first thing Monday morning, which ended up being super convenient as I was able to get up and get on the first coach going to the station and didn’t have to wait around for my return coach.

** If you’re planning to go with family/friends or you know of others trying to score tickets, make sure each and every one of you have each other’s DOB and Registration numbers, and ensure you are ALL trying to get tickets for each other – it increases your chances of getting through if you have more people on the site trying.

If by some rare chance you and a friend both get through, fill out all the information and reserve tickets anyway, the system won’t allow more than one ticket under a single registration number, so you won’t end up with two tickets or be over charged – nothing worse than thinking your friend has it all under control and their system times out and you just closed your browser!

** Create a little ‘cheat sheet’ with all of your details (and your friends details) on it, so when you do get through, you don’t have to waste time typing everything in, all you have to do is copy and paste it into the fields!

** Don’t bother having 60 browsers open – it just gets hell confusing! Just have the one and refresh that bad boy every chance you get!

** If you are unsuccessful with coach and ticket packages, you have a second chance when standard tickets go on sale a few days later.

There is also a resale of tickets that aren’t paid in full by April which you might be able to get your hands on if you do miss out.

Volunteering is another great way to get into the festival. Whether it be for Glastonbury or for an organisation like Oxfam, there are ways in, so don’t lose hope if you’re not successful getting tickets.
